This role offers a qualified Dentist to support our team of lawyers in assessing the clinical aspects of a case to ensure access to justice for patients. The role will also involve providing dental training to our legal and operations teams to complement their knowledge of dental negligence litigation.

Personal Specification

The jobholder is required to have both graduate (BDS) and ideally, postgraduate medical degrees and/or diplomas and to be fully registered and licensed with the recognised regulator within the relevant jurisdiction (e.g. the GDC).

This role offers a Partner to grow a department and run a full Dental Negligence claimant caseload. The right candidate would have extensive litigation experience and a proven track record of running of claimant cases from start to finish, both pre and post issue and would need to supervise associate and assistant members of the team.

The role will include but is not limited to:

• Supervision of associate and assistant solicitors within the team
• Management duties and reporting to the board
• Drafting letters of claim for high value claims
• Instructing dental experts and attending conferences
• Assessing quantum in line with judicial guidelines
• Negotiating settlements with dental insurers
• Instructing counsel
• Attending conferences with counsel
• Attending Case Management Conferences and application hearings
• Drafting witness statements
• Preparing costs schedules and/or liaising with cost consultants
• Litigating cases to settlement or Trial

Personal Specification

• LLB Hons / BA Law degree
• 7-10 years PQE considered with significant clinical negligence / fast track and multi-track personal injury experience is essential
• Litigation experience and a confident communicator
• Client management skills
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Excellent attention to detail

This role offers a Costs Draftsperson to compliment the team. As part of the Costs team you will be responsible for recovering the costs incurred during the client’s case. You will need to advise clients of all aspects of the process and ensure costs are recovered quickly and smoothly. The role will also involve providing cost recovery training and updates in case law and the CPR rules to our legal and operations teams to complement their knowledge of dental negligence litigation.

The role will be to provide high-quality administration assistance to the firm and all of its Directors/Partners/Fee Earners and working with other support staff as and when required.

General workload will encompass all office duties from taking telephone calls to dealing with the post and dealing with office systems.  

Type of Person

• Ability to maintain good communications with Directors, all fee earners and support staff with the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• A good telephone manner is a must.
• Ability to work under tight timescales and pressure.
• Compliance with the firm’s internal procedures and you must be a good team player with the ability to provide excellent service standards to clients.
• Computer literate and knowledge of Microsoft software.
